My Favorite Thrillers

Reading my favorite thrillers

With Halloween just around the corner, it feels like every day a new show, movie or pumpkin spice product pops up just in time for spooky season. While I’m no expert on Halloween content and costumes, and you won’t find me indulging in all things pumpkin, y’all know how I love my books. If you need some help getting into the spooky spirit, or just want to read a good book, I’m sharing seven of my favorite thrillers to keep you entertained. These books are guaranteed to have you looking over your shoulder and double-checking the locks as you fly through the pages. Enjoy!

My 7 Favorite Thrillers

The Kind Worth Killing

My favorite thriller of all time. Hands-down. And the book I recommend most for any fellow mystery lovers. I was reading this book on our honeymoon and would wake up early in the morning so I could be anti-social and read. Talk about true (book) love. The Kind Worth Killing reads like a Hitchcock movie. The beautiful writing and plot twists will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.

Also, all of Peter Swanson’s books are fantastic. Every single one.

The Woman in Cabin 10

This thriller takes place on a new, top-of-the-line cruise ship, and my scaredy-cat self made the mistake of reading The Woman in Cabin 10 while traveling for work. I was terrified to be staying alone in my hotel room but still could not put this book down. You will absolutely be checking behind the door and under the bed while reading.

The Butterfly Garden

The Butterfly Garden is dark, graphic and bizarre. But it’s also compelling and totally unique. Not many thrillers can top this one IMO. If you like reading about crazy, demented people, this one’s for you. Just do me a favor and don’t read a bunch of the online reviews because they will 100% spoil the story, ok?

Behind Closed Doors

Three things that come to mind when I think about Behind Closed Doors:

  1. You never really know what’s happening in someone’s marriage.
  2. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
  3. I will never be able to think about sleeping on an airplane the same way again.

The Woman in the Window

Hopefully, you haven’t already watched the movie because, per usual, the book is way better.

The Woman in the Window is full of surprises that will have you gasping out loud. Even if you have seen the movie, I still recommend the book. The movie leaves out many juicy details that make this mystery so intriguing!

The Girl Before

A Christian Grey-like architect becomes your landlord, but your apartment doesn’t come with a red room of pain. It does, however, come with a disclaimer that its previous tenant died mysteriously inside the unit.

The Silent Patient

I read The Silent Patient in 24 hours flat. This book completely took hold of my attention and didn’t let go until the very last page. It is so perfectly paced that you really can’t look away. Every chapter is a cliff-hanger that will keep you binge-reading long into the night.
