Picking out my 2022 vision board books and writing this post has been so much fun. Fewer things bring me more joy than picking out new books to read! Last year, instead of a traditional vision board, I curated a list of books to serve as my vision board for what I wanted to accomplish in the new year. This vision board of books method kept me focused on my theme (…even though I let the pandemic blues get to me, and I didn’t crush the healthy habit and consistency thing as much as I would have liked to).
Nevertheless, when it comes to reading nonfiction books, I get really excited about the new ways I can grow. (**Big nerd energy over here.**) Something about picking out a book that is going to help me learn something new or improve in some way puts me in such a motivated headspace. If only I could always feel that optimistic and focused all the time!
In 2022, my theme is centered around being bold and brave. Joy, clarity and inspiration are what I am seeking in this new year, and the only way I can truly find these things is if I put my fears aside. With that goal and theme in mind, I’ve picked out four titles to create my 2022 vision board in books. I hope these titles inspire you to create your own set of vision board books or at least add to your professional TBR list!
2022’s Vision Board of Books
Untamed by Glennon Doyle
One of my girlfriends sent me this video about Untamed and I was immediately intrigued. Not only did I need to hear that message right there and then, something about Glennon’s point of view told me I had to read this book. I have a feeling Untamed is going to be the perfect lesson in being bold and brave. If you haven’t seen the video I’m referencing, stop what you’re doing and go watch it.
Radical Candor by Kim Scott
When I first started managing a team, I was the queen of sugar-coated feedback. I’ve come a LONG since then but sometimes I still find myself tiptoeing around other people’s feelings. No more of that in 2022. I’m hoping Radical Candor can teach me to feel more confident in being direct with others, both inside and outside of the office.
Dare to Lead by Brené Brown
How could I possibly work on being brave without having Brené Brown as part of my vision board? Similar to what I’m wanting to learn through Radical Candor, I’m excited to read Brené Brown’s take on brave leadership and applying it at work.
Change Anything: The New Science of Personal Success
These last two years have taught me a lot about focusing on what I control. But I still feel frustrated when I can’t impact something the way I want to. In a time when there’s so much I can’t control, the idea of being able to “change anything” feels empowering AF.
There you have it: Four quarters in the year. Four books to make up my 2022 vision board. I’m excited to get reading and out of my own way this year. Cheers to being bold and brave!
